From our Last Post to our Move

Finally after 10 months we have a serious offer on our home. Contract Conditions are subject to Finance which these days is pretty standard. Purchasers requesting a fast settlement. "What's the quickest you can be out" asks the Agent. We settle in 45 days, however, news on Purchaser Finance Approval takes just over two weeks. Therefore, we were really left with ........ 28 days .....!

28 Days to move a House full of belongings. We had already de-cluttered prior to listing our house for sale, but what remained in home was still an accumulation of over 13 years.

Boxes, packing tape (lots and lots of both), permanent markers and my manual list to record box numbers and the contents of each box were recorded. The hardest part was deciding what was packed for long term storage and what  was packed for unpacking once we had moved to the Man Shed.

For 28 days, frantically packed and packed and packed. I will say it was the most exhausting experience. Took annual leave from our jobs and even then were at the packing and moving from early morning til late at night.

Moving to our new property required first a Large Moving Truck and the help of our close friend, and a few trips back and forth and then a 1 tonne van with several trips to and from.

Sadly we were far too busy to take photos of our Manshed with Boxes and Boxes stacked metres high in no particular order. We didn't have the time to organise the boxes we had to unpack, they were just dumped so that we could return to our home to load more.

Guess the funniest part was that our son had to wear the same underwear and outer garmets for over two days because I couldn't get to the box containing his clothing.

Slowly, and I mean slowly, we managed to unpack the vitals into our Man Shed. That alone was no easy feat. Attempting to store the important things we would require for perhaps 12 months whilst building, into say 10% of the space these items were originally stored in is quite nasty.

Thinking there would be 90% less cleaning to do was short lived too. That was not to be as for the first month, the broom, hand shovel and brush became my closest friends. At least 5 times a day and night was spent sweeping up or vacuuming up Slaters, Spiders, Millipedes and Earwigs.

Now did I mention the Mice? OMG ..... yes, those adorable looking rodents whom don't scare you but for the sake of everyone's health and well being would rather not have to deal with. Often, the first sign of them would be the aroma in the vicinity of the Bathroom. So far, we've had to retrieve at least six of them (deceased) from under our Freezer.

Have installed a few of the Plug In devices which emit ultrasonic low frequency noises which apparently Rodents don't like. I think this may have helped.

Now back to the important stuff, the start of our new Home.
